Canon's PowerShot A2300 is a budget point-and-shoot camera that represents a step-up from the cheapest models on the market. It sports 16 Megapixels and a 5x optical zoom with a 28mm wide-angle. Interestingly Canon's strategy for 2012 is to equip most of its PowerShot A series with the same lens and sensor, but gradually add more features on the higher-end models.
