Canon EOS 5Ds review – the resolution King of DSLRs!

Camera Labs and DSLR Tips latest news and reviews        Go to the original article...

Canon's EOS 5DS is the highest resolution DSLR to date with a whopping 50.6 Megapixels - more than double the EOS 5D Mark III, not to mention a leapfrog over the Nikon D810 and Sony A7r II. Beyond the headline-grabbing resolution, much of the 5Ds remains the same as the three-year old 5D Mark III, including an absence of Wifi, while the video capabilities are actually a step backward. But for the Canon faithful, the wait for a high-res body is finally over. Is it the DSLR you've been waiting for? Find out in my Canon EOS 5Ds review!

How to photograph the Tour de France – with a $550 camera!

Camera Labs and DSLR Tips latest news and reviews        Go to the original article...

Over the past three years I've photographed the Mountain stages of the Tour de France with mirrorless cameras. On the one hand the Tour is easy to access as it's open and un-ticketed. You can literally stand a couple of feet away from the World's greatest cyclists with nothing between you, completely free of charge. On the other hand it can be logistically complex to view thanks to remote regions and road closures. In my article I'll share my experience of visiting and shooting three tours, including researching the routes, planning locations, choosing the best angles and what kind of gear and settings work well at these kind of events. Most importantly you'll see how well a $550 consumer camera can capture pro sports action. Find out How to shoot the Tour de France!

Nikon S9900 review – a great value 30x pocket super-zoom!

Camera Labs and DSLR Tips latest news and reviews        Go to the original article...

Nikon's COOLPIX S9900 is a pocket super-zoom with a 30x optical range and a couple of features you won't find on many or even any rivals. First is a built-in GPS receiver which is becoming a rarity in this market. Secondly is a full-articulated side-hinged screen, which is unique amongst the competition. As a modern camera, it also sports Wifi with NFC, 1080p video and a raft of shooting modes. Impressively it's one of the cheapest of its peer group, so check out our Nikon S9900 review to see how it compares against Panasonic's TZ70 / ZS50 and Sony's HX90V!

Sony HX90V review – one of the best 30x pocket super-zooms!

Camera Labs and DSLR Tips latest news and reviews        Go to the original article...

Sony's Cyber-shot HX90V is the World's smallest compact camera with a 30x optical zoom. The newly designed Zeiss optics deliver a 25-750mm equivalent range in a body that's smaller than the earlier HX60V, or indeed its current rival the Lumix TZ70 / ZS50. Like the Lumix, the HX90V also features a built-in electronic viewfinder, but unlike that model also sports an articulated screen along with a GPS receiver. Find out how it measures-up against the competition in my Sony HX90V review!

Like its predecessor, it's also fitted with a 3in fully-articulated touch-screen. I compared it against Nikon's D5500, Panasonic's G7, Sony's A6000 and of course Canon's own cheaper 750D / T6i in my Canon EOS 760D T6s review!

Panasonic's Lumix G7 is a mid-range mirrorless camera, employing a 16 Megapixel sensor with 8fps shooting (6fps with AF). The Olympus 8mm f1.8 Fisheye is a new lens for the Micro Four Thirds format, capturing a 180 degree field of view across the diagonal when mounted on an Olympus or Panasonic body. It becomes the third fisheye for the system, but what makes it unique is the f1.8 aperture, two stops brighter than its Lumix and Samsung rivals and in fact the World's fastest fisheye for any format. As a member of the Olympus Pro series, it's also weather-proof. Find out if it's the Fisheye for you in my Olympus 8mm fisheye review!

The Olympus M Zuiko Digital 7-14mm f2.8 Pro is an ultra wide angle zoom for the Micro Four Thirds format. Tamron 15-30mm f2.8 review – the new King of ultra-wide?

Camera Labs and DSLR Tips latest news and reviews        Go to the original article...

Tamron's SP 15-30mm f2.8 VC is an ultra-wide zoom that works with full-frame bodies and is available in Canon, Nikon and Sony A mounts. It gores up against Nikon's legendary 14-24mm f2.8, matching the f2.8 constant focal ratio and zooming longer, while only losing 1mm from the wide-end. Uniquely it also boasts optical stabilization, and the price also comes-in comfortably below the Nikon and especially the upcoming Canon 11-24mm. Can it really compete on quality? Panasonic Lumix 30mm f2.8 – affordable macro lens for MFT

Camera Labs and DSLR Tips latest news and reviews        Go to the original article...

Panasonic's Lumix G 30mm f2.8 is an affordable Macro lens for the Micro Four Thirds system. Mounted on an Olympus or Panasonic body, it delivers a 60mm field-of-view that makes it an ideal general-purpose prime lens, but the key selling point is its ability to focus close-enough to deliver 1:1 magnification. Impressively the Micro Four Thirds system already has two existing macro options, each employing longer focal lengths, so in my Lumix 30mm Macro review I've taken an in-depth look at this latest option to see if it's the model for you!

Panasonic Lumix SZ8 – budget compact

Camera Labs and DSLR Tips latest news and reviews        Go to the original article...

The Lumix SZ8 is Panasonic's entry-level super-zoom compact, offering a 12x optical zoom, 16 Megapixel sensor, 3in screen and Wifi, making it a step-up from the cheapest models at little extra cost. The Lumix SZ10 may be newer, but offers little more than a selfie-screen over the earlier SZ8, which has subsequently found itself discounted to tempting price points. Camera Labs and DSLR Tips latest news and reviews        Go to the original article...

Canon's EOS M3 is the company's third mirrorless camera. It employs a brand new 24 Megapixel APS-C sensor with Hybrid CMOS III AF for more faster and more confident continuous AF. The 3in touchscreen angles down by 45 degrees or all the way up to face the subject for selfies or filming pieces to camera. There's no built-in viewfinder, but you can slide an optional EVF accessory onto the hotshoe, or exploit Canon's Speedlite flashguns. There's also a popup flash, 1080p video at 24, 25 or 30p with manual control over exposures, a microphone input and Wifi with NFC. Has Canon cracked the mirrorless market? Panasonic Lumix GM5 review – mini-mirrorless!

Camera Labs and DSLR Tips latest news and reviews        Go to the original article...

Panasonic's Lumix GM5 is a tiny mirrorless system camera based on the Micro Four Thirds standard - so while it's roughly the same size as a Sony RX100, it actually supports interchangeable lenses. The GM5 builds on the existing GM1 by packing in a small but detailed electronic viewfinder, a hotshoe and a new control dial on the rear that greatly improves ergonomics over the original.
